EBBSFLEET LAY CONGRESS

WE ARE ALL MISSIONARY DISCIPLES

You are invited to join Bishop Jonathan at the  Ebbsfleet Lay Congress at Coventry Cathedral on Saturday 2nd September from 10:30am to 4:00pm.

Last year’s Congress was a great success. Coventry Cathedral full of people from across the Ebbsfleet area. The Congress is a key event for all churchwardens and PCC members – new and old; and for all active lay people — young and old; and of course the clergy: to help all our parishes think and pray together about our future.

Last year – with Bishop Rowan Williams and Archdeacon Morris Rodham – we thought about what makes a parish healthy and how Catholic communities grow. This year the theme looks outward. Any parish that has the Eucharist at its heart – as all Ebbsfleet parishes do – should overflow in mission. The clue is in the word: the Mass – ‘Go in peace, glorifying God’. Our title is a word of encouragement from Pope Francis in The Joy of the Gospel:

WE ARE ALL MISSIONARY DISCIPLES!

This year’s main speakers will be Bishop Philip North & Fr Damian Feeney.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with other like-minded parishes.  All are welcome and transport can be provided.  Please speak to Fr Victor if you would like to attend.

FENNY POPPERS FESTIVAL

This year’s Fenny Poppers Festival takes place on the afternoon of Sunday 20th August.  The church will be open, refreshments served and there will be a variety of stalls and displays.

Fenny Popper Festival

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE

To help make this a success for St Martin’s church we urgently need your help. Volunteers are required to help set up and manage stalls, or to be on hand in the church to assist visitors.  We also need donations of bottles for the tombola, homemade cakes, craft items, etc.  Please speak to Father Victor, Iola Samuels, or Faith Kemp if you can help in any way. Thanks!

Please note that to allow time for setting up, the Parish Mass will start at 9:00am andthe 8:00am Low Mass is cancelled on 20th August.  Normal service will resume the following Sunday!
